HOW SAFE IS THE PERFORMANCE?

We take safety seriously & require a gap of 10 feet (3 metres) between the playing space and the audience. Individual audience members (or social bubbles / family groups) must remain 6.5 feet (2 metres) apart. We will wear masks when we set up and clear away but not during the performance. We’ll ask you for a photograph of your garden (or other playing-space) in advance, so we can be sure there is enough room to allow physical distancing. There need be no proximity between us and you at any point.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND?

Currently, up to 100 people can gather at an outdoor event like this. A Midsummer Night’s Dream has a cast of 6, and so can be performed to a maximum of 94 people. Most shows have casts of 2 or 3 - please check the individual show info. If you want to share the production with your neighbors by siting the show in your front garden, there is no limit to the audience size, providing safety guidelines are met.

WHAT SIZE GARDEN/YARD DO I NEED?

Most average-sized back yards will be just fine. We need a playing space of approximately 15 feet by 15 feet at one end of the yard and a further 10 feet between the stage area and the audience. Otherwise, you can spread yourselves as you like whilst maintaining physical distance.   

DO THE AUDIENCE NEED TO WEAR MASKS?

If physical distancing guidelines are maintained, there is no requirement to wear masks. 

WHAT ARE THESE SHOWS LIKE?

The shows are lean, inventive and rooted in a love of language. There is little set, but full costuming, sound design and lighting for dusky performances.

Our focus is on the quality of our live performances and the uniquely intimate nature of these bespoke shows.   

I'VE BOOKED. WHAT NOW?

We’ll email you a standard hire agreement to sign and return. On receipt, we'll send you a printable programme that you can forward to your guests. On performance day, we'll arrive to set up 45 minutes before curtain up. We’ll pack up and vacate within 20 minutes of curtain down.

WHY AREN'T THE ACTORS DISTANCED FROM ONE ANOTHER?

The team made a collective decision at the start of the project to form a ‘company bubble’. We have been extremely careful (rehearsing outside with masks) and should any of us begin to show symptoms, all performances will of course be put on ice until everyone is cleared.

WHY DO SHOWS HAVE DIFFERENT PRICES?

It depends entirely on the cast size. Your fee is split between the contributing artists – Lodestar makes no profit.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING?

No, we bring everything, although we may need to run an extension cable to a domestic power socket.

We will not ask to use your bathroom!

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?

We’ll refund your payment fully so long as you cancel no less than 24 hours before the agreed performance time.

WHAT IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL?

If there is bad weather on performance day, we'll offer to reschedule your booking.

If that isn't convenient for you, we'll refund your payment in full.
